SHOPPING FOR EARRINGS
Earrings help us to recognize the shape of the face we all are blessed with. Below is a list of face shapes, and the kind of earrings, which would suit them best.
Round face
Earrings with lean, long and angular curved designs can be the perfect choice as they help in elongating a round face.
Oval face
Almost any kind of design suits an oval face. Best would be earrings with soft shapes like studs, ovals, and teardrops.
Square face
Earrings with a round and angular edge, like medium and long designs, help in softening a square face. Avoid wearing angular style, large earrings, as they would make your face look wider.
Heart shaped face
Pyramid style earrings, being wide at the bottom, and soft curved oval and teardrop earrings look best on a heart shaped face. Avoid wearing earrings that are heart shaped.
Diamond face
A diamond shaped face is one that is wide at the cheeks but narrow at the forehead and chin. Earrings, which are less in length and more in width help, keep a good balance. You can also try studs and small drop earrings.
Oblong face
Simple studs and chandelier style earrings look very good on an oblong face. It is a good idea to avoid angular and long earrings.
SHOPPING FOR NECKLACES
Through time, a necklace has been considered one of the basic elements of accessorising in both casual and formal looks. A few tips here:
Your body type
A long neck and slim neck will look graceful with necklaces that are more fitted to the neck. These could be collar style necklaces or chokers that draw attention to the neck. A thick and short neck will look better with a long necklace that draws attention away from the neck. If you want to emphasize your chest, you can choose necklaces that dip lower into the body, drawing attention to this area.
The shape of your face
A chin that has a tendency to be square will be best suited for a V shaped pendant orientated necklace that will give the illusion of a more pointed chin, while a round necklace to a pointed chin will create an illusion of a softer chin.
Clothing
Necklaces are by and large accessories and they should always be chosen to complement the clothes you are wearing. For casual wear, the princess length necklace works well with most clothes as it will not hang too low, and will not hide under your collar. These are usually in the 43 to 48 cm length, the most popular necklace length. On the other hand, you can also choose the matinee necklace length, which will span between 50 and 60 cm, perfect for accessorizing office clothes.
SHOPPING FOR RINGS
The ring area tends to have much less limitation as compared to the necklace and earrings area as regards to the interaction between these and your physical attributes.
- Go for rings that seem to illuminate and highlight your skin tone, and complement your fingers by making them look slender and long.
- Women with long fingers will find that they can wear relatively large and chunky rings, while it is advisable for women with short fingers to wear more narrow rings. A cluster of several narrow rings can also contribute to making short fingers look longer.
- A physically active lifestyle will have a direct effect of the wear and tear of your rings and it is thus a good idea to remove them whenever in action
- The best way to figure out your ring size is to have your finger measured at your local jewellers. See more on ring sizing by clicking here.
SHOPPING FOR BRACELETS
The ideal bracelet is one that complements your wrist and arms as well as your style and personality.
The width
A wide bracelet tends to look better on a large wrist, while a narrow bracelet tends to complement a smaller wrist.
Loose or fitting
Bangles should be loose enough to allow them to slide off. A bracelet can be more fitting, in which case they will come with some kind of a lock. Many bracelets are adjustable unless they are made to fit.
Your lifestyle
As with rings, a physically active life will put its toll on your bracelets especially if a lot of banging is involved. It is advisable to remove your bangles and bracelet when participating in such activities, and also sure that they do not get caught up in objects involved in your activites.
Bracelet sizes and accessorizing
When it comes to clothes, it largely depends on how much you want to show off your bracelets. Bare arms will naturally give the bracelet or bangle more exposure. Bracelets tend to have a very wide range as regards what clothing you would like to accessorize. Just go ahead and experiment.
