Mari Keto is an artist with a humoristic approach to to serious issues. Mari works with the themes the modern society, raising questions about values and the modern phenomenon. Her works consist of many layers where all is seldom revealed at first glance. Under the shiny surface lurks things we try to hide, excessive realism and a whole lot of (self)irony.
Mari Keto (b. 1975) is a Finnish-born jewellery artist who lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Mari works mainly conceptually in the form of objects, small-scale installations and portraits, mastering materials from iron to stone, porcelain and plastics, utilizing these conscientiously and in many cases underlining her expression.
Mari Keto graduated from Danish Institute of Fine Metals in 2008 as a jewellery artist. She is also a graduate of Pirkanmaa vocational institute department of Crafts & Design in Finland specializing as an art blacksmith.
In addition, Mari has since 2005 run a jewellery art gallery, Galleri Iron Inc., in Copenhagen. The gallery exhibits modern art, art handcraft and design.
